Ivy Cheng Foundation
Our mission is to empower those in financial need, especially girls, women, and underrepresented groups, through education, as well as support healthcare, water supply, housing, and sustainable energy infrastructure projects and research to strengthen underserved communities.
Inspiration
The Ivy Cheng Foundation was founded in 2025 by Chieh-san Cheng to honor the legacy of his wife, Ivy, who passed in April 2018. Ivy possessed the most generous soul, devoting her career at the World Bank to helping the impoverished around the world. Through the Ivy Cheng Foundation, we strive to continue her work. Chris and Patrick will join their father in executing on the mission, operations, and evolution of the Foundation into the future.

After Ivy’s passing, Chieh-san identified a meaningful way to honor Ivy while meeting a particularly dire need in Tibet. Many of the tiny villages dotting the mountains of Tibet do not have the resources to support hospitals or advanced medical care. So, when there are high-risk pregnancies and childbirth complications in these villages, the mother’s and child’s lives are at extreme risk. In 2019, Chieh-san purchased and delivered a high-performance SUV for the Tibetan Maternal and Child Health Association (TMCHA), to help transport emergently sick pregnant women and children to local hospitals in the western part of Tibet. Now, for expanded impact, the SUV is mainly used to transport village doctors and midwives for delivering free clinics, medical training, and childhood education to the areas surrounding Lhasa and Shannan City. The vehicle is marked “Love, Ivy” and drives up and down treacherous mountains saving lives.
